اصطلاحات مهم در GRE (بخش اول)

همون طور که میدونید در آزمون GRE دونستن لغت خیلی مهمه. اما باید این نکته رو توجه داشته باشید که یک سری اصطلاح در صورت سئوالات Text Completion و Sentence Equivalence بطور معمول قرار میگیرن که باعث میشن ما نتونیم درک دقیقی از صورت سئوال پیداکنیم و درنتیجه نتونیم گزینه صحیح رو انتخاب کنیم.

1.To be of /in two minds about                                             مردد بودن

Residents are of two minds about new traffic restrictions in the area.

2. A meeting of the minds                                          توافق آرا و نظرات

There is a true meeting of the minds between the two leaders during the six-hour talks.

3. To speak one’s mind                                        نظر خود را بدون ترس گفتن

Will you give me a chance to speak my mind or am I supposed to agree with everything you say?

4. To be on a par with                                                    برابر بودن با

This violinist may be an amateur but he’s on a par with orchestral players.

5. To be not up to scratch                             بخش نبودن در حد مناسب و رضایت

I’m afraid your text essay was not up to scratch.

6. Orders of magnitude                                                مقدار فراوان

The orders of magnitude of the deficit was as expected. 

7. Pay one’s dues                                          به زحمت وسختی به جایی رسیدن

He worked hard to get to where he is today. He paid his dues and did what he was told.

8. Pay dearly for something                            گران تمام شدن چیزی برای کسی

He is paying dearly for his folly.

9. Part and parcel                                                          جزء لاینفک

Working overtime is part and parcel of my job.

10 .Rack and ruin                                             ویرانی ،با خاک یکسان شدن

My lawn is going to rack and ruin.
