as و like، هردو برای مقایسه کردن استفاده می شود. اما تفاوت های مهمی دارند که باید به آن ها توجه شود.

as + adjective + as and as much as

از این قاعده معمولا برای بیان تشابه کیفیی و کمی، یا عدم تشابه بین دو چیز استفاده می شود.

He's not as tall as his brother.

یا می توانید از the same as استفاده کنید.

استفاده از like به همراه افعال حسی نیز بسیار روتین و معمول است.

ترکیب های as if و as though برای مقایسه ی میان واقعیت و تخیل به کار می رود.

as if/as though + clause

You look as if you've seen a ghost.

از like و such as برای مثال زدن استفاده می شود.

You could try a team sport like football, basketball or hockey.

You should take something soft, such as a towel, to lie on.

برای بیان یک موقعیت شغلی و کاربرد یک چیز، از ترکیب as + noun استفاده می کنیم.

He used his coat as a blanket to keep warm.

as میتواند حرف ربط بین دو جمله باشد که در هر جمله معنای مختلفی دارد.
